7.9 – Damn you

As much as letting the blonde walking disaster deal with the consequences of his actions feels tempting, leaving him to his fate is easier said than done. Time so search for Aaron!

Some updates + 10 year anniversary illustration

Hello everyone!

It’s been a while since I posted anything on this blog, mainly because I had no idea how to fix the meta description so that it wouldn’t mess up my search results online 😅 I finally found a workaround, though, so… the blog is now back online! While I was at it, I also added a few new pages of the comic, since the last update was apparently months ago D:

I haven’t been very present online and on social media lately due some health issues. I had a surgery last month and I’m still in the recovering phase, but I’m feeling a lot better already and I’m starting to draw again! Between the health issues and the lack of buffer, though, The Emergency Coven had to go through an unplanned hiatus. I’m slowly trying to rebuild a buffer I have a couple of new pages available on Patreon, buuut… I’d rather get a few more pages ready before we can go back to more regular posting, hence why I’m not updating here yet. I promise I haven’t forgotten about the comic, though! 😀

Speaking of which… February 11th was supposed to be the tenth (!) anniversary of The Emergency Coven (as in, since I started writing it, the comic itself turns five this year).

To celebrate, here’s a little bonus illustration:

A digital illustration to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the webcomic The Emergency Coven.

Poor Aaron can’t believe it’s been so long 😅

By the way, I’m in the process of testing out a few new social media platforms, because Instagram is crap and Twitter/X is… urgh. I’m not leaving my Instagram account yet, but I do plan to be more active on Bluesky and Cara. Now that the meta description issue seems to be fixed, I might use this blog to share updates and WIPs too! 😀

See you around! <3

DIY Printable Stickers!

Photo of the printing process of the DIY stickers

Soooo… Inksgiving 2021 is over, and here’s the first prize for you guys! A printable sticker sheet featuring characters from The Emergency Coven + a couple of additional designs 🙂 I figured it’d be easier to make this as a DIY printable sheet rather than sending physical copies around. The process is really easy: just print the files (you’ll need to use printable sticker paper for better results, but I guess regular paper + glue could work too), cut the images aaaaand… done! 😀

Webcomic recommendations: Blood of the Taken by Sian Mandrake

And after what feels like a century or two… have another webcomic recommendation! ^_^

Blood of the Taken by Sian Mandrake

Summary (copy-pasted from the site): Theo is a 500 year old Vampire who wants nothing more than to replace her lost brood. After all, a home is nothing without a family. As Theo stalks a small town in Western Massachusetts she becomes obsessed with a man named Liam and his best friend, Ed. With a Mole Cricket companion and driving a 1950’s VW Beetle, Theo is the sweet little old grandma that Nosferatu never had.

Warnings: blood, gore, cursing, profanity, abuse, physical & psychical violence, mental health topics.

Why I love it: see, when I rant about how Tapas is full of hidden gems and downright professional works that get constantly ignored, THIS is exactly the kind of work I’m talking about. Blood of the Taken is a beautifully drawn comic, with incredible dark and gritty atmospheres, great character designs, a compelling story and a wonderful female lead that has absolutely nothing to do with your typical “sexy vampire” that you often find in horror stories. Theo is definitely -not- a sexy girl, she’s more of a modern age Nosferatu with her pointy teeth, bald head, ghost-white skin and some rather… interesting fashion choices :’D the kind of stuff she does is truly awful, but her wit and overall personality never fail to crack me up and I can definitely tell that she cares about her new family… even though her “children” may not quite agree with it XD seriously, the overall quality of the whole work is amazing and totally feels like something you’d find in a comic shop. If you’re not scared of some blood/gore (which definitely marks it as a horror comic, but not downright splatter, at least so far), I totally recommend giving it a go 😀

Recommended if you like: dark and gritty atmospheres, dark humor, great character design, professional quality artwork and storytelling.
